About Suzanne

Suzanne Merritt is most known for her lush, tactile ocean and sky paintings. She primarily paints with encaustics, a medium first used in Greco-Roman art as far back as the 5th century B.C.E. Merritt’s process includes fusing multiple layers of translucent wax, tree resin, and mineral pigments onto birch panels, the terrain close to her home offering endless inspiration for her Ocean Sky and abstract landscapes. Her paintings have been included in numerous exhibitions, commercial projects, and collections throughout the U.S.

Merritt’s studio is located at Leichtag Foundation in Leucadia, CA, where she paints and hosts private workshops. For more information about upcoming shows or to sign up for one of her Workshops, contact Suzanne here.
